Chapter Six: Marriage to a Monster

The marriage was good for what seemed like a few months then seemed to get worse. Vlad became someone that Elisabeth did not know. He became the prince of Rumania two years after their marriage and she was carrying their first child. All was happy for awhile but of course the princess was not aware of what was going on outside of the protection of castle Poenari. One day a messenger was sent to the palace with news that her father's estate had been burned and pillaged to the ground. Vlad and his men went to investigate and found out that Elisabeth's father had fled the scene and saved his own hide rather than stick up for his people and his lands.

This enraged Vlad and to him became an embarrassment to the country of Rumania. Who would have not stayed and took up for their land and people? He secretly vowed that the man would die. He would pay for the crimes for abandoning his people and his lands. He went back home and told Elisabeth what he had done. Elisabeth remembered how her father had betrayed her when she had been younger. She thought back to the night of the death of Vlad's father, The prince of Translyvania. She turned to Vlad, "I have yet another confession to tell you, love. I saw the death of your own father and I know exactly who is responsible for his death."

Vlad knelt down in front of her, "How were you there and how did you know about it? Please if you know anything at all that will help me please let me know."

She sighed, "The night of your father's death, I heard the whole plan to overthrow him and I know who the leader of the rebellion was. They hated your father because he was giving into the sultan's wishes. The leader of the rebellion was my father Vlad. I over heard him and his man planning on overthrowing your father. They planned on killing your father and putting someone else to their liking on the throne. I tried to stop him and warn you but it was too late. My father found out my plans and had me locked in my room. When I did finally manage to escape, they had already killed your father and taken you to the sultan. I thought for many years that you were dead. I gave up on you one day and finally decided to join the nunnery."

The words she confessed held the answers Vlad had been seeking all these years. Who had been the girl to try and save him that fateful night? Who was the angel who had grabbed his hand and told him to hold on that she would one day see him again? It had been his angel of mercy who had given him the light on his father's death. It had not been the Turkish people who killed Prince Vlad Dracul the first. It had been the rich aristocrats of his own country. He crushed Elisabeth to his chest and held her close.

Days later Elisabeth was in the city watching a festival when out of nowhere she saw her father motioning for her to join him in the huge missionary cathedral. She hurried to him and sat down beside him, "What are you doing here? Don't you know that Vlad and his men are looking for you?"

He nodded, "Yes I am very aware of that fact. I came to say goodbye to you and hope that you can forgive me for doing that to Vlad's father all those many years ago. I know that you have never forgotten the fact that I did what I did, Elisabeth. You are my only daughter and I wanted so much better for you than the Dracul's but you are one of them now. I am so sorry for what I must do."

At this time Elisabeth was ready to give birth to her first child any moment. Her father took a dagger from underneath his robes and came towards Elisabeth. She was at first shocked at why her father would try something as to murder his own daughter. She looked at him, "Father why would you try and hurt your own daughter?"

He laughed, "You are one of them now, Elisabeth. You carry his demon child within your womb and you and the child must die to be forgiven. If you want to be in Heaven with me and your mother then I must do this. I am sorry Elisabeth."

She knew her father had gone truly mad. As she backed into a corner she croutched down as to protect her stomach. Nothing mattered except to protect this unborn child. She screamed out just as a dagger pierced her father's heart. She looked up to see her real mother standing there. Her mother looked at her with tears in her eyes, "Are you alright my child?"

Elisabeth nodded and ran into her mother's open arms, "Oh thank you so much Momma. I am so sorry that you had to do that Mother."

Elisabeth's mother sighed, "Someday you will understand if you do not now of how much you want to protect your child no matter how old they get. I know it is against Prince Vlad's rules to murder someone but he was going to kill you and my unborn grandchild. I could not just stand there and do nothing."

Elisabeth nodded and hugged her, "I know mother and I can understand that. I am sure Vlad will be just as understanding of this situation. He knows you would never diliberately do something like that."

Little did she know that she was wrong. Vlad was not at all understanding like she thought he would be. On the third day after Elisabeth had given birth to a baby boy they called Mihnea, Vlad had Elisabeth's mother executed among the one thousand responsible for his own father's death. Rumania and its surrounding countries were in a uproar. The gypsies, Elisabeth's mother's people weren't the least concerned about Vlad. The raided his castle but just as they had they were killed. Many were caught and impaled around the castle walls. Vlad had broken Elisabeth's heart and nothing could be done to mend it. When Mihnea turned one year old Vlad sent Elisabeth to stay at a nunnery.

On her birthday Vlad sent for her and she came home to Castle Poenari. The once drained color from her face had returned and she silently celebrated her return. The Turks soon came to invade Rumania. One day Vlad hit his head really hard and lost conscienceness. His men thought he was dead and soon began to prepare his body for burial at the Snagov Monastery. Elisabeth was soon asleep that evening having heard the news of her husbands death. Vlad came in later that evening tired and ready for bed. He came to his wife to chat with her as he had always done and found her asleep. Upon trying to awaken her he found a spot of red on her nightgown.

It was beside her that he found the dagger drowned in her own blood. He lifted her up and cried out. His reason for living was dead and he felt his body go numb. He later found a letter beside her body. It read:

My Love;

I don't really know where to begin this. I am in need to tell you that you have killed me on the inside for the last two years. Mihnea was my only reason for living and I can only hope that you don't corrupt our son like you have been truly corrupted. Your soul is damned, Vlad. You may not enter Heaven and nor will I after I leave. I will see you in limbo. Where we will walk to gether and be as one like we were before. Please raise Mihnea the best you can and I will see you soon.

Yours Always;

Elisabeth Dracula.

Epilogue: Now

I look at the way the words on that letter is written as I sit here at my desk. I read all I can about Dracula and his life. Nothing is as I remember them. I have managed to contact Mihnea and he has told me he is tired and hates his father and thinks he is death himself. I would have given anything for things to have been different. I keep wondering why I am destined to sit here on this Earth and keep repeating my life. What is my destiny? What is the path that I am supposed to take?

What ever happened to Vlad? Has he been reincarnated also as I have? I know now that my destiny lies with him and That I must find him somehow.

Introduction

I don't really know where to begin something like this. I am a writer and have never really used a site to write a story on. Well here goes nothing I thought today. I might as well begin all the way at the beginning.

This is about my previous life as Dracula's first wife. Here I will start and I hope you enjoy.

Chapter One: My Parents and my birth

The night was overcast but the moon full just above the city of Sigisoara. Melona De Larsa was sweating from the constant pains that coursed through her body. She was fully dialated and ready to give birth. Her lover Moleshus the Mighty they called him, sat on the outside listening for the wails of his first and only child.

Melona screamed one last painful wail and out came a head full of dark brown hair on top of a beautiful baby girl. Moleshus came running in and starred down at the bundle Melona held. He knew his heir was not a boy as he had hoped but at the moment he did not care. He immediately fell in love with the tiny human, his daughter.

Pride swelled inside his chest and he gazed down at the girl, "Her name will be Elisabeth. She is to be called my daughter. She will live with me till she turns sixteen winters and then she will be allowed to choose who she will live with then...your people or mine."

Melona knew she did not get a long with Moleshus and she did want a better life for her baby than she could give her. That night Elisabeth was taken to live at Castle de Nire just above the city of Sigisoara. There Elisabeth was babied and cared for as no other could ever been taken care of.

Moleshus had lord's blood coursing through his veins and was also a rich merchant himself. He gave his daughter the world. She had long flowing robes made from the purest silk in the world and toys that came all the way from the southern tips of Africa. She was happy as a child but wild, often people mistaked her as a boy. Moleshus would just laugh and say she was the boy he never had.

Deep down he loved her and nothing could ever break a father's love for his daughter. OR could it? Moleshus knew there would come a day when he would have to let her go to the man she fell in love with. He knew then his heart would truly break.

Chapter Two: My first Meeting with Vlad

At the age of seven Moleshus took Elisabeth into Sigisoara for the all Hallow's Eve festival. Her mother's people were in town and Melona had inquired about her daughter. Elisabeth knew she was going to meet her real mother and her people. Little did she know that day she would also meet her future and destiny for all eternity.

She gazed at all the children of the city running through the streets in their brightly colored costumes. She imagined herself one day being able to join them perhaps. Her father left her in the care of her granpa. He talked to her about tarot cards and other festival games. He told her to feel free to explore the stuff her real father would have never agreed to let her explore.

She walked through the streets smiling and playing with the other children. Then she spotted several black steeds coming down the street. She was too caught up in a game to see one coming towards her. As it came towards her she looked up at it and saw death approaching her. Suddenly someone came out of nowhere and moved her out of the horses way.

As the breath was knocked out of her she turned to see her knight. He truly was the son of the late Prince Vlad Dracul. One of the knights of the order of the Dragon. He looked down at her, "You should be careful. You could have died out there."

Elisabeth looked into his mesmerising eyes immediately drawn to him, "I uh thank you sincerely for saving me..."

He helped her to her feet and his dad approached him. He dusted the boy off and they left all the while his father whispered in his ear about how evil and nasty gypsy children were. Little did he know Elisabeth was not a full blooded gypsy. She was the daughter of a rich and powerful lord. Later that evening as a bonfire and music and feasting began she spotted the boy through the huge crowd. He came striding up to her. He smiled at her, "Are you doing better since our last little meeting? I am sorry for not introducing myself. I am Prince Vlad Dracul the second. And who might the girl be who I rescued?"

Elisabeth found it hard to speak, "I am Elisabeth de Nire daughter of Lord Moleshus. I live in that big castle above the city. I thank you again for saving me this morning. It was very brave of you. And its nice to meet you, Prince Vlad."

Before he could say anything else to her his dad came once more and whisked him off. Before he could clearly follow his father he came running back up to Elisabeth,"Till we meet again someday my lady remember me."

How could she had ever forgotten the prince she thought. His eyes and the sign on his ring would forever be etched in her mind.

Chapter Three: The Betrothal

Elisabeth's father had made a bargain with the prince of Romania having no other choice since he could not pay the prince. The crops had failed miserably and the peasants were starving. Having no other choice than to beg for food for him and his people he went to Prince Vlad. Elisabeth was ten at the time and had no clue just what was in store for her future.

She knew marriage vows would one day be spoken between her and the prince. One day the Dracul's came to her father's castle to sign the betrothal papers between her and Vlad the second. At this time she had forgotten the meeting between her and Vlad the second those many moons ago. She sat in her room stitching together a pillow when someone knocked hardly at her bedroom door. Vlad the second stormed in her room all the while looking straight at her.

He spoke to her angrily, "I thought when I told you to come down and meet me that I meant what I said. You are to be my future princess and you will not disobey me now. Your allegiances are to my father and you will obey, Elisabeth."

Elisabeth was angry and she did not know what to say to the angry prince. She stood her ground not sure of the outcome, "How dare you be rude enough to come barging into my private chambers?! You are too rude and insolent to be my future husband! My father shall know of this I promise you. Now leave me alone and get out this moment!"

Mad he left the room and barged back down the stairs he had come up. IT was then the symbol on his ring had caught her attention. She hurried to the window and caught a glimpse of him riding off towards the city. IT had been him she thought. She put a hand up to her cheek where he had so long ago touched her, "My prince!"

She laughed to herself and knew then who she was marrying. She was marrying the boy who she had fallen in love with that day at the festival.

Chapter Four: The Betrayal

She had heard it clear. The aristocrats and lords of the land were planning on over throwing Prince Vlad. The question came up of what would happen to the brothers, the heirs to the Wallachian throne. IT was said that they be given to the Turks the enemies of the Romanians. Her father was the leader and she could have died a thousand deaths over and over again.

Someone had to warn the brothers and their father of what was going to come. She listened quietly on the outside of the door. Just as she was about to leave one of the guards caught her and took her to her father. When confronted about what she had heard she answered, "I heard everything. I know what your plans are to be rid of Prince Vlad! Father I beg of you please do not do this! It is wrong and in the end you all will pay. Remember the threefold laws!"

He cursed her and slapped her across the face, "I am very disappointed in you , Elisabeth. You get more like your mother everyday that you are alive." He turned to the guard, "Take her to her room and lock the door. Do not let anyone but me in and no one gets out without my permission is this understood?"

Once inside her room she schemed on getting a way out of the tower of her room. Someone had to warn them she thought. Someone had to save her love. She finally made her way down to the tower walls and rode her horse all the way to Castle Poenari.

Once there she got there in time to see the Prince and his sons loaded into the back of a wagon. The prince was then whisked away to another room in the city. There he was torchered and buried alive in a coffin. The young princes were taken to the Turks where Elisabeth's dad made a bargain to the sultan.

Elisabeth ran into the tall trees of the forest. She secretly mourned her love and silently vowed that she would never love another. Her father had not only betrayed his country but also his daughter.

Chapter Five: Vlad's Return

One afternoon her father came and got her to attend a gathering at the King of Bulgaria's summer estate. She went along not wanting to because she was still preparing herself to enter the nunnery. Once dinner started she caught glimpse of someone that looked familiar.

He caught glimpse of her and their eyes held. She went to her father to ask him if she could be excused. The stranger made her feel weird and she thought she did not need this. IT was then that the King started talking about her entering the nunnery. The stranger spoke up and asked her father, "Why are you letting her enter the nunnery?"

Her father starred at the stranger, "Because it is her choosing to do so. Who are you to question me about my daughter?"

HE sighed proudly, "I am the son of Prince Vlad Dracul. I was just merely wanting to know why someone as beautiful was wanting to throw a chance away at life."

The voices drowned out and Elisabeth felt as if she was going to faint. As she was about to topple to the floor, Vlad caught her in his arms. She lost sight of him as the black void slipped around her. She woke up on a seetee in the drawing room. She saw the prince out on the balcony of the room. Ignoring her father's inquiries about her health she followed her instinct and went to the prince.

As she went outside he saw her and asked, "Are you going to be alright, my lady?"

Elisabeth said, "I have never forgotten you, Vlad. I did not hear anything but you saying your name in the dinning room. I don't think you remember me do you? I am Elisabeth, your supposed betrothed. The only reason that I was planning on entering the nunnery is because I thought your were dead. I am sorry if I sound a bit exaggerated."

He came to her and took her in his arms, "You sound far from that. I remember you Elisabeth. We first met at the festival in Sigisoara when you were around seven winters. You are my betrothed and I will carry out what my father signed for you and I if it is alright with you. Would you do the honors of becoming my wife, Elisabeth de Nire?"

She thought she would faint again, "I would love to become your wife, Vlad. I think I have loved you from the first time I ever laid eyes on you."

They kissed and it was from that moment on that Elisabeth became inseperable from the Prince of Darkness. Would he really become evil like the priests had told her he would? Were the fables about him true?
